Shine On, Sydney!

Today (June 3) marks the 4 year anniversary of my niece’s passing.  I can’t believe it has been 4 years since we’ve seen her crooked smile or that she would have been 7 this year.  Just wanted to take a moment and dedicate a post to the most awesome and only niece I’ve ever had.  Of course, we just learned my sister is due to have a little girl this October so I’m excited to add another little girl among my rather long list of nephews!

A picture from Sydney’s Luau – an annual event to celebrate her life around July 18, her birthday.  In the picture in the frame, she’s staring out of her airplane window.  It reminds us of how much she loved to fly and how much she would have wanted us to keep on flying despite the accident that took her life.

My brother’s tattoo – an awesome rendering of Syd and a great way to memorialize his little girl.

Christina and Sydney on the day before the plane crash.  She loved photo shoots and her mom!

And finally, we can’t forget all of Syd’s brothers and my awesome nephews, Tyler, Mason, and Hunter.  They miss their sister every day!  Aren’t they cute in their Easter outfits?

  1. Oh … I’m so so sorry for your loss. I’m sure it is terribly painful even now, but how wonderful to celebrate her life. Losing a child is always so very painful. You think of what “could have and might have been.” My condolences to you and your family.

    • Thanks, we’re definitely still healing as a family, but we love to get together and celebrate all the joy she brought us!
