The Walking Dead: “Infected”

This flu might be more frightening than the zombie infection. I love that such a simple naturally occurring flu outbreak can cause such utter turmoil during the zombie apocalypse. The opening scenes with zombie!Patrick eating his fellow survivors was creeptastic and disgusting. LOVED IT.

Michonne crying with baby Judith was good character development – although still cryptic.  And I wonder how Michonne’s hurt ankle is going to affect her badassery? My guess is not much. She can just ride around on her horse (wait, is her horse okay?) and machete heads off.

The sheriff is back in town! I loved when Rick re-holstered his belt and dropped his six shooter back in place. A great homage to Westerns and I just love me some crazy Rick. And crazy Carl, too! Admittedly, Rick slaughtering the pigs (metaphorically, slaughtering farmer!Rick) was sad. Andrew Lincoln is really impressing me with his acting range. He’s come so far since Love Actually.

This episode needed more Daryl. Are Darly and Carol really going to hook up? Because that really bothers me for some reason. Their names are too rhymey.

Who the hell is feeding the zombies and burning bodies? I’ve seen nearly every character as someone’s suspect. So nobody knows shit. I think it’s Carl or someone as equally invested in getting Rick back into action.

The sneak peak of next week’s episode with the 7,500 strong zombie army marching towards our survivors nearly gave me a heartattack. I hope Daryl can get his comrades out of there safely. I’m also thinking the jail is looking like a bad option now – what with the flu and zombie army nearby. Looks like they’ll just have to find another home sweet hell.

  1. My guess is Michonne had a child that was killed, and possibly turned, post-outbreak. We haven’t seen any baby zombies, and this would be an interesting way to bring up children being turned without actually showing it on screen (which many viewers may not be comfortable with).

    • I definitely think Michonne was either a mother or mother-figure to a child (perhaps a niece or sister?). I haven’t read this far in the comics so I have no additional theories!!

    • I had a lot of troubles in the very beginning because zombies are the scariest thing in the world to me. It didn’t help that the damn show is set/filmed in Atlanta and so I could literally see my nightmare coming true. That being said, the storytelling is so good, the characters so interesting that the zombie action often takes a backseat. It’s the kind of show readers really enjoy. You can totally hide your eyes through the scary bits (I do).

My problem with Daryl and Carol is that I don’t feel any chemistry between them. Carol just comes off as everyone’s mother which doesn’t work romantically for me at all.

  2. I just want Daryl and Carol to kiss already. And Michonne, awwww. I can’t wait to find out more there. I was really really happy when Rick put his gun back on. Bout damn time. And glad that he gave Carl his gun back, because dude, your kid needs to be safe.

I thought that it was implied that the annoying little girl who’s obsessed with Nick zombie was feeding them the rats? Because she thinks they’re people and need to be taken care of. Although, I have no idea who set those bodies on fire. And the blood implies that they were already turned into zombies, killed, then dragged outside and burned. Who the hell would burn them just for the fun of it? Poor Tyrese though, at least he still has his daughter. I’ve been watching on Amazon video so I never get to see the “next on” scenes – there’s a zombie army on the way??? Oh shit…

    • I watch AMC’s Talking Dead after the show airs and there are all kinds of theories as to who is feeding the rats and who burned the bodies. Some speculate that Rick burned the bodies as implied by his burning of the pig sty and his shirt to get rid of the infection. Who knows?? Many have stated that they don’t believe the crazy little girl could be feeding the rats because she’s not tall enough to shine the flashlight in their eyes without a ladder. Some people actually think The Governor lives in the prison and is behind everything.

      • The Governor living in the prison… whaaaat? That seems crazy, but not so crazy that it couldn’t be possible, I guess. I don’t think Rick would’ve burned the bodies, and crazy is he is, he’s not creepy crazy. If he thought burning the bodies of the infected was a better idea, he would just suggest it. And he’d never do it within the prison walls.

I love the speculation that comes after each episode! I miss watching The Talking Dead too. Makes me want to have cable again.

  3. My husb thinks it’s the crazy little girl feeding the zombies, which could be. But we had to tape tonight’s Oct. 27 episode to watch tomorrow – b/c too much else happening. Maybe Michonne & Rick hook up someday …. they’ll have to delve into the whole motherhood/cry part to find out what that was about

    • Everyone just needs to hook up with Michonne, lol! I hope you enjoyed the episode once you watched. I want the reveal to whoever has been feeding those rats to blow my mind.
